2021 sees Andreyev Lawyers celebrating 20 years in business. We don’t have an exciting origin story worthy of being made into a movie, but our story is probably one that most business owners relate to – it seemed like a good idea at the time!

From the early days of agonising over what font to use, how to arrange three pieces of second-hand office furniture and how to best disguise the bullet hole in the only window in the office, we have seen the firm grow from a one-man band to a 30 person team of great lawyers, support staff and software developers, with offices in Adelaide and Sydney. We have also had the privilege of going on a similar journey with many of our clients and referrers.

Looking back over 20 years, it is clear that nothing happens without the trust and support of others. From the bank manager who gave us our first business loan, parents who guaranteed that loan, the established lawyers that referred us work, our first staff member who began their employment with us and our first client who trusted us to advise them, we have been very fortunate to grow a legal practice that we both like working in and which puts us in daily contact with people who are on a similar path.

If you had sat me down 5-10 years ago and asked me the top 5 things I would like to change about the taxi industry, within about 20 minutes of brainstorming I would have nailed all 5 of the ‘innovations’ that Uber has implemented. It’s all the rage to bag Uber right now, and that is not my point. I am bagging the people who think that Uber was innovative, or disruptive.
