What a year!
Those of you that have been keeping up with us this year will know that 2024 was a big year of learning, change and growth for us.
Learning can be painful and challenging – quite literally. There is scientific research that suggests there is a link between adult neurogenesis (the generation of new neurons in the adult brain) and learning. It finds that challenging learning experiences significantly increase the survival of newly generated ‘hippocampal neurons’, a process crucial for memory formation. The research suggests that these new neurons play a vital role in complex learning processes, possibly by enhancing the brain’s ability to integrate present experiences with past memories.
In short (we’re lawyers, not scientists after all!), persevering through the challenges of learning can reap bountiful rewards. Learning is one of the key themes that underpins the values we have identified as our Client Values, Team Values and Professional Values. We are always looking for ways to push ourselves and exceed expectations.
2024 Highlights
The opportunities to learn and experience change have been boundless for us in 2024. Some highlights include:
- Our successful rebrand as ADLV Law. Curious minds that missed our re-brand announcement can read all about it here.
- Moving into our new Adelaide office at the iconic 91 King William Street. The hard work has paid off and we aren’t bored of the 360-degree views over Adelaide yet. Those who have visited us over the last few months seem to feel the same way!
- Achieving our ISO9001 certification, underpinning our commitment to providing sustained, high quality legal services that you can count on.
Milestone achievements for our team, including:
- Louise Craven’s admission as a full member of STEP;
- Announcing our State partnership with Family Business Association;
- Hannah Andreyev’s successful admission as a Family Business Association accredited advisor;
- Celebrating recognition of our firm expertise as a recommended South Australian tax law firm for 2024 by Doyle’s Guide;
- Not one, but two personal Doyle’s Guide recommendations for Andrew Andreyev as a recommended tax lawyer and wills, estates and succession planning lawyer in South Australia for 2024;
- Several presentations by Nick Stevens and Andrew Andreyev to CPA tax accounting discussion groups in Sydney (special thanks to the Northern Suburbs Tax Discussion Group, Sydney Professional Accountants Group, CPA Dee Why and CPA Eastern Suburbs);
- The successful delivery of six Legal Considerations and Governance workshops by Andrew, Louise and Kasia in conjunction with Family Business Association and the Office for Small and Family Business (SA);
- Several radio segments on ABC Mornings for ‘friend of the show’ Louise Craven, including a very special farewell broadcast with outgoing presenter David Bevan;
- Hosting several successful Women on Boards WOB Meets and luncheons featuring guests including Janet Miller, Katelyn Adams, Tanya Cole and Kerrie Akkermans, Nikki Govan and Bruce Djite; and
- Pushing ourselves beyond our desks with an unbelievable seven successful participants in the Adelaide marathon, including two full marathons, one half and four 10km finishers.
Each of these highlights represent the unique ways that our team has embraced challenges and learning opportunities in 2024. We know that we have grown more positive, resilient and motivated for it and we hope that you have also seen this reflected in the support we have given you.
These opportunities don’t arise overnight or by accident. In fact, many of these opportunities have been presented to us because there is an ever-growing group of clients, referrers and supporters that have trusted us to guide them through the good times and the bad, with expertise and empathy since the very beginning. We extend a big thank you to those of you who have trusted us with some of your biggest and most important challenges and transformations in 2024. We are always proud to witness your success with front row seats, and this year has been no different.
We are very excited to have closed out 2024 with our new identity as ADLV Law. This change has been our biggest transformation to date, and we are looking forward to carrying the values reflected in our new name and look into next year.
After a couple of weeks off to rest and recharge (we assume the neurons also like to take some time off at the end of the year, though we don’t have any scientific evidence to back that assumption). We are back, and buzzing with energy for 2025!
May it be a year of new opportunities to learn, grow and transform for all of us. Cheers!
