As a regulated professional services firm, we provide professional executor, attorney and trustee services to Australian families.
We will efficiently administer your trust
Our usual practice is to appoint two of our principals as the co-trustees of your estate or trust. We also accept co-appointments with another of your key advisers, for example. your accountant or financial planner. We put our own personal names behind each promise we make to you.
All of the money we deal with is held in and processed through our regulated solicitor’s trust account. This is subject to oversight by the Law Society and an independent audit at least once a year.
All investments are registered in the name of our incorporated legal practice entity.
All of our professional services are insured through the professional indemnity fund scheme.
We will follow your directions, not our own interests
We are not associated with any financial institution or financial advisers. Any decisions we make are based on your directions, our common sense and where appropriate, independent third-party advice.
We take comprehensive instructions and prepare detailed documents that ensure your wishes are carried out as you intend.
We keep clear and detailed records so that your beneficiaries understand what is going on and feel assured that we are acting according to your wishes.
We understand trusts
As lawyers who work with trusts on a daily basis, you can be sure that nothing will be missed. We know the ins-and-outs of setting up trusts, administering trusts, adapting them to changes in laws, as well as closing them down.
We charge a modest professional fee – No commissions
We charge a professional fee based on the time we spend managing the trust, and not a commission based on the value of your assets. So, if there is a lot of work in any one year, then the fee is higher, but in most years the fee is quite low as we have little to do other than keep a watchful eye on administrative matters, oversee investments and make prudent distributions.
We charge a setup fee which varies depending on the complexity of the trust structure. We charge a standard hourly rate for the work thereafter.
To avoid any price risk with our hourly rate option, we cap our fees to what would otherwise have been charged by Australian Executor Trustees Ltd. So, you get the benefit of an hourly rate for work done if it is less than this trustee fee, but have the safety of a ‘fee cap’ if our hourly rate would otherwise have been more.
We only do what we do best. We outsource accounting, tax return preparation and financial services (as required). We have a panel of experts that we have thoroughly vetted, and who work like we do, charging modest professional fees and having your interests at heart.
