We’re back again for a quarterly update just after we’ve passed the half-way mark for the year. Those of you in the professional services industry will be breathing a sigh of relief that we’ve made it past the end of the financial year. The rest of you are probably looking forward to (hopefully) a healthy tax refund!
Each year, the lead up to the 30th of June is usually one of our busiest periods and this year was no different. Now that we’ve caught our breath, we’ve had a chance to reflect on what we’ve been getting up to (aside from legal work and meeting critical deadlines, of course!)
Want to know more about what kept us so busy in the last quarter? Read on!
We’ve been as busy as can ‘bee’!
This quarter we’ve got stuck-in to supporting our valued partners at events and educational seminars.
We have really enjoyed investing in our State partnership with the Family Business Association, including our co-branded ‘Meet the Partners’ launch event and the presentation of two Family Business Workshops on Governance and Legal Considerations in Family Business. These workshops are presented in collaboration with FBA and an initiative the Office for Small and Family Business. There are two more sessions for each topic coming up, and we encourage you to register if you own a small or family business and want to brush up on these concepts.
Andrew and Kasia also had the opportunity to wave the Team AL Flag at the FBA annual Asia-Pacific Conference in Cairns. We’re a little jealous of their escape to the sunshine!
We were pleased to host a Women on Boards WOB Meet at The Light Room at ILA. Guest speaker and entrepreneur Tanya Cole shared her personal story and role as a professional board member with guests, led by interviewer Kerrie Akkermans, CEO of Community Centres SA.
We look forward to continuing our support of Women on Boards with two more upcoming events – a WOB Meet with special guest Katelyn Adams of HLB Mann Judd on 31 July 2024 and WOB Lunch with special guest Nikki Govan on 18 September 2024. We encourage all aspiring board members to register for one of these events.
Our Sydney team also successfully launched our new ‘Views over Lunch’ program. Guests enjoyed a light lunch and lively discussion about common issues faced by young professionals. Unsurprisingly, the housing market was a hot topic!
If that wasn’t enough, Nick and Andrew have been busy sharing the knowledge with tax discussion groups all over Sydney. We extend a special thanks to the Northern Suburbs Tax Discussion Group, Sydney Professional Accountants Group, CPA Dee Why and CPA Eastern Suburbs for inviting Nick and Andrew to present their opinion on current super and tax law changes.
If you are part of an accounting discussion group and are looking for guest speakers, Nick and Andrew are looking forward to rolling out their presentation to more groups. Contact us at marketing@adlvlaw.com.au if you would like to enquire about their availability.
As you can see – if we’re not at our desks, we are usually out and about promoting causes we think are important and sharing knowledge where we can. If any of these events interest you, please contact us. The more the merrier – we’d love you to join us!
More fresh content to enjoy
We’ve been working on fresh content for you to enjoy, as well as optimising existing content for the best possible user experience.
For website and booklet readers, we have now collated our downloadable resources in a single Digital Library page. Get downloading and reading!
We’ve also updated our blog with posts on some of our most frequently requested topics, such as ‘Asset Protection – Lending to your business without losing your house’, ‘Should trust succession be part of my Will?’ and ‘How to protect your business from divorce’.
We were also lucky enough to share a special guest article by Jess Bowman at Seedling Giving on ‘How to distinguish between high and poor performing charities this EOFY’. Jess’ insights and tips are critical to keep in mind before you commit to a charitable donation.
As always, our Instagram account features video Q&As on popular topics such as ‘What shouldn’t I say in a negotiation?’, ‘What if a past employee tries to use my confidential information?’ and for those who are super keen ‘What are some tips for getting an interview as a lawyer?’.
For those of you that get food envy, don’t worry! We’re still posting snaps of what we’re getting up to when we’re not working on your legal matters on our Instagram page – we could probably start a food blog if we weren’t committed to the law!
Some of you have noticed that we’ve been hinting at a big and exciting change coming soon – have you worked out what it is?
Are there any topics you want to know more about? Send an email to our friendly marketing team at marketing@adlvlaw.com.au with your suggestions. We’d love to hear more about the topics that matter to you and will do our best to work your suggestions into our regular content production cycle.
Celebrating our team (and the next gen!)
We made some exciting announcements last quarter, including the induction of Louise Craven as a TEP and Lucy Bowler to the ARITA Young Professionals (SA/NT) Committee.
We also celebrated the achievements of Jack Brown, the recent winner of the Andreyev Lawyers Prize in Commercial Law (LJ557E) at the University of New South Wales.
Until next time
It is around this time of year where the Winter skies have set in, but the promise of Spring sunshine is just around the corner.
We hope that wherever you are, you are staying warm (or perhaps cool, for those of you lucky enough to be enjoying Euro summer!), informed and motivated. Our top tip for this quarter? Sometimes a little treat can go a long way!
Thanks for reading our latest quarterly update and we look forward to sharing more with you in just a few months – and revealing our big and exciting change!
Until then,
From the team at Andreyev Lawyers
